Something I have noticed in recent blockbusters, they always feel like they need to be somewhere else

Yesterday I watched Rogue One and I absolutely loved it! But one thing that bothered me and it's something I have noticed in many other action films. They always feel the need to go somewhere else. Like there is hardly ever a scene where they slow down and sit down so the characters can just talk, so the characters and relationships can develop through dialogue instead of action. Like compared to the old Star Wars films, where there are scenes where Luke is just at home, it doesn't feel like the movie needs to go anywhere else, but it also doesn't slows down the film to a grind. It slowly establishes character. In rogue one (and TFA) they establish the characters in 5 minutes or so, instantly getting into death and tragedy for the characters. There is always a rush for things to get going.

Overall I did think it was a very good film, but it is a trend that I have noticed in a lot of recent action films. The worst kind of offenders are films that just use scenes to connect the dots between action sequences. I might come off as an old man saying this, but they really don't make them like they used.
