Road to Perdition (2002) Dir. by Sam Mendes and my favorite film starring Tom Hanks - also one of Paul Newman's last onscreen roles. A father and son's loyalty are put to the test when a hitman's son witnesses what his father does for a living.
A piece of work that is often overshadowed by Mendes' other works such as American Beauty, Revolutionary Road or more recently, Skyfall. This movie is absolutely gorgeous, even the costume design is metaphorically heavy.
The soundtrack is ambient and layers very well with the overall tone of the film.
If you enjoy theme-heavy crime thrillers, you'll really enjoy this. I promise you.
"I'm glad it was you."
