Is it considered rude to be one your phone while watching a movie with someone?

I just got back from my friend's house where six of us watched The Bourne Ultimatum, and I was really annoyed with how much everyone was on their phone. It felt like I was the only one watching the movie. I felt like I might as well have been watching alone at home. It's it considered impolite to be on your phone while watching a movie with someone or am I just being overly irritable?
