The Amazing Spider Man 2 will age really badly

And the reason why is the movie is basically a 2 and a half hour advertisement for movies........that never even happened!

We've got all the setup for three villains; Electro, Goblin and Rhino, all of whom are built up for most of the movie's runtime (Rhino less so, but the final scene is dedicated to him) and none of them really serve much to the "plot" of this movie in the grand scheme of things. They're all built up.........just to set up the planned "Sinister Six" film. That never happened.

Most of the rest of the movie revolves around Peter trying to find out the truth about his Dad, which it does.........and this adds up to nothing in the movie either. Just teases us for future films....which again. Never happened.

The only self contained narrative this movie has is the relationship between Peter and Gwen, and even that leads nowhere as the aftermath of Gwen's supposedly emotional death (which loses its impact as it's lost in a jumble of SFX nonsense) is resolved quickly in about 2 minutes, and the filmakers go "welp, onto the next advert" as Rhino appears.

Seriously, this movie will age horribly. And I mean HORRIBLY.
