What movie(s) gave you that "impending doom" feeling?

By that, I mean that feeling of dread you experience whenever someone or something makes you uncomfortable or anxious and makes you skeptical of what could come next.

For example, Blue Velvet was one of the few films that actually made me feel apprehensive for the main characters. Dennis Hopper's Frank Booth was such a monster and every time he showed up on screen, I felt like I was with Kyle MacLachlan's character in the same setting feeling the thundercloud of dread and terror hang over your head fearing what this man would do next.

But what about you guys? What film(s) gave you that "impending doom" feeling and why?
