What movie prioritizes style over substance in a way that actually works well?

Every time I hear about a movie that goes for "style over substance", the movie in question is being criticized, with the implicit argument that visual effects and similar are ultimately pointless without a well-developed plot. While I agree with this to an extent, can any of you name a movie that favors style over substance and is a genuinely great film?
