The 'Burbs, 1989

Directed by Joe Dante (The Howling, Piranha) and starring Tom Hanks and Carrie Fisher, among others, The 'Burbs is a fantastic comedy with a serious horror side to it.

Joe Dante did with 'Burbs what he'd already proven he could do well with the Christmas classic Gremlins and its sequel - he made a lighthearted comedy film peppered with scenes and sequences of horror, violence... and Leatherface.

This movie is over thirty years old now, and so I guess it may seem dated to some - but in my opinion, it never gets old.

If you haven't seen The 'Burbs, I implore you to give it a shot. It's not the funniest movie, and it isn't the scariest - but it is a wonderful in-between.
