Movies with plot points that don't go anywhere.

So after rewatching Jurassic World for the first time since it came out, I noticed two plot threads that were never touched upon again and seemed to be completely pointless.

1. The older brother of the two kids had a girlfriend and it was hinting that he was going to cheat on her and liked to flirt with other girls.

2. The kid's parents were getting divorced.

Both of these served nothing to the overall story and seemed to be abandoned ideas as soon as the main story started to progress.

Anyways, can you think of any other films that had completely pointless moments or ideas that were completely forgotten part way through?
