Did NowThis steal an idea for their Oscar winning short "Two Distant Strangers?"

For timeline:
Groundhog Day for a Black Man dropped in 2016.
NowThis contacted the filmmaker in May of 2020 to share it.
Filming dates for Two Distant Strangers were in "September 2020," as per Joey Badass on Instagram. It was co-produced by NowThis. It then saw release in 2021 and won an Oscar.
This definitely feels like NowThis shared the video, shopped the concept around, and won an Oscar on someone else's concept. I'd imagine the writers who accepted were probably unaware of the connection there.
