Miami Vice (2006) is a gorgeous fever dream. I expected a typical crime thriller and got something totally different.

And i absolutely loved it.

This one felt strange initially. The opening in the club was amazing but later scenes felt fragmented and weirdly connected. Once i started to get the hang of what Michael Mann was actually doing i started to adore it. The scenes with Colin Farrell and Gong Li are some of the most gorgeous stuff i've ever seen.

Don't expect a typical crime thriller going into this. There's a fantastic shootout near the end of the movie but. before that the movie focuses more on mood and feel. It's one of those films where you just sit back and vibe, where the characters are doing more with their gestures and expressions than with their dialogue. It's not a movie for everyone, but i would recommend giving it a chance.
