My one issue with Glass Onion.
I’ve seen Glass Onion twice now and enjoyed it. I’ve seen a lot of people saying it was better than Knives Out, which I disagree with. Knives Out was as close to perfect as you can get. Rian Johnson is a fantastic writer/director. I just can’t get over this one problem in the script. Miles (Edward Norton) attempts to kill Andi and then he believes that she shows up to his island. Rian has stated that Miles wouldn’t even have seen her die and that he thinks she’s survived. Now, I can get on board with Miles being an idiot and carrying on. But then the worlds greatest detective shows up, uninvited. That paired with Andi’s “appearance” would be enough to stop an idiot in their tracks and cancel the event from carrying on. Or at the least kick Blanc off the island. But no, he carries on. Not only that, but he commits murder in front of Blanc and tries to go for another kill too. Now everyone I bring this up to, says Miles thought he was smarter then he was and thought he could pull it off. I just can’t buy that. The movie shows us that Miles has no problem with other people doing work he is incapable of doing (the puzzle box, the dong, literally everything). But when it comes to murder in the presence of the world’s greatest detective, Miles thinks he can improvise a plan to get away with double homicide. It just doesn’t make sense. And the more I think about it, the more it annoys me. And I feel like it’s a cop out to just be like, he’s really stupid when the movie tells us he doesn’t do things that are out of his depths.
