Tarantino successfully pulled off a flashback within a flashback in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2018). Has this ever been done properly in other films?

During the scene where Cliff Booth is on the roof fixing Rick's antenna, he thinks back to his time working on The Green Hornet, and why he wasn't able to work on set with Rick that day. During the flashback scene, Rick and the character Randy are discussing Cliff and the purported murder of his wife out at sea, at which point we get an additional flashback scene to Cliff on the boat with his wife berating him, before ambiguously cutting back to Rick and Randy's discussion.

I didn't even think or notice this until after a few rewatches. I thought the concept was executed nicely, without being distracting or tacky. Not sure if this has ever been attempted, with success, in other films. Also, I love this movie (I could watch Brad Pitt drive around 1969 Los Angeles, listening to old radio ads/music, for an entire film haha)

edit: 2019* not 2018
