Ikiru is one of the most heartbreaking and wonderful films I have ever seen

I recently watched Ikiru as preparation for an essay about Akira Kurosawa. I was driven to tears many times over. By the end of the film, you feel so absolutely inspired and sad for Watanabe that it's almost too much to take. This film should be mandatory viewing for anyone questioning how they live their life.
