In Independence Day: Resurgence, I hope a statue or memorial to Russell Casse (Randy Quaid) is shown, as he saved everyone in Area 51 and possibly the world. (x-posting to r/showerthoughts)

In the final battle of the movie Independence Day (1996), Russell Casse, played by Randy Quaid, sacrificed himself to save his kids and everyone at Area 51. In doing so he discovered the Achilles heel to defeating the alien city destroyers. Which was then communicated world wide, by Morse code, allowing humanity to defeat the aliens. Had he not acted so selflessly, the world may have been lost, and humanity extinguished.

Someone else at Area 51 may have been willing to do the same, later; another battle elsewhere in the world may have found the alien weak spot and broadcast it. However, according to what we see in the movie, Russell was the hero of that moment.
