The Ultimate Cut of Batman v Superman is being released digitally tomorrow and I highly recommend you give it a chance.

To sum up my thoughts, I rated the Theatrical Cut a 4.3/10 and the Ultimate Cut a 7.8/10. It went from being a bad movie to a pretty good one.

I disliked the theatrical cut of the film. I thought it was a messy, nonsensical, bad film. My main issues were the editing, pacing and the lack of character motivations. To me, the Ultimate Cut irons out those issues and it is actually a cohesive, clear narrative.

If you disliked the theatrical cut because of the tone, then this still isn't for you. This film is actually darker and more brutal. However, I feel as if this cut of the film validates the tone a bit more. I personally didn't feel as if the Theatrical Cut explored their conflicts well enough which made the dourness seem disingenuous.

It also still has some of the same issues that most people had with the Theatrical Cut ("Martha", Justice League cameos) but it rectifies other issues as well; there is more Clark Kent, Lex Luthor is done justice, scenes are re-arranged and established, the main conflict is actually validated, we see Bruce Wayne's ass.

Of course, this is all just my opinion and you may completely disagree, but I really enjoyed the film. I've seen it twice now and it's definitely rejuvenated my hope for DC films going forward.

For those wondering how I saw it before the official release, the film was leaked and a lot of people saw it early. After watching the leak, I went ahead and purchased the blu-ray. I highly recommend you do the same or at least find another way to watch the film and give it a chance. I hope you enjoy it.
