Saw La La Land tonight at Telluride. This movie is going to win Best Picture at the Oscars; the hype is real
One of the most jaw dropping cinema experiences I've ever had. The opening scene is ridiculous and the whole theater burst into applause at the end. It's so completely different from Whiplash that you have to constantly remind yourself that it was made by the same guy. Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone are incredible and Emma is way out in front for the Oscar now.
If you want to support original film, here it fucking is in the flesh. Unlike other Tellurides I've attended, I have literally not met one person who saw this movie and didn't like it. Damien Chazelle is going to be mentioned in the same breath as Nolan and Wes Anderson after this comes out. Just so fucking good.
Also as a final note the trailers give very little away and the final scene is a sequence that rivals Whiplash's in terms of emotional intensity and resonance (but not the exact same thing if that makes sense)
And if you have any questions I'll try to answer them when I wake up. Peace.
