What's a critically acclaimed filmed film you finally saw and thought "wow...that really WAS a masterpiece"?

For me, Mad Max: Fury Road is the first that comes to mind. I didn't finally see it until way after its theatrical run. It was already at like 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, and had been nominated for 10 Oscars by the time I saw it, and man, was I impressed. Fury Road, in my opinion, is the the best (pure) action film ever made, and I've had to watch more than once to make sure those thoughts aren't hyperbole. They aren't. Fury Road is a brilliant film in every way. An absolute masterpiece. My one gripe about the film is that I wish they would've left out the bad guy becomes good cliche. Nux should've been way too brainwashed to ever change, and remained a pesky foe throughout the film...unredeemable, so to speak, kind of like Lotso in Toy Story 3.
