I watched only the first and last movies of The Fast and The Furious franchise, took notes, and tried to guess what happens in between.

To be clear, I've never seen any of the films before now. I decided I would just watch the first and last movie, then try and see if I could guess what happens in between. So after finishing Furious 7, I've come up with this.

Brian clearly drops out of the force following the first movie and joins Dom for some heist-hijinks over the next couple of films, trying to make cash and satisfying their adrenaline addiction all the while becoming serious BFF’s. The sense of family the gang gets from working together helps override the guilt of breaking the law. In one of the films, they probably need to do a heist so that they can get cash for a noble cause, like saving one of their buddies in the hospital, such as not-quite-dead Jesse or not-quite-dead Vince. They are always successful but for various reasons never end up getting rich, because Dom is still living in that same dumpy house during Furious 7. One of the heists mostly takes place in the Dominican Republic where they make friends with whoever is hiding Mia during 7, as well. Eventually they are approached by the feds in one of the middle films for some sort of job that the government isn’t allowed to officially participate in. Also, the Dom and Brian wonder-team has garnered mad respect at this point and the feds think they are the only guys capable of getting it done. They probably are.

In the feds-heist film, Hobbs and Elena are introduced and tasked with helping Dom/Brian do their job, slash keeping an eye on them for the feds. Also at some point Dom and Hobbs get into fight, probably when Dom tries to screw over the feds during the heist job (breaks in police station, per Furious 7 quote?) and Hobbs tries to keep him in line. Hobbs kicks his ass because Dwayne Johnson is larger than Vin Diesel. Dom gets the best of him by the end of the film, though, probably in some sort of car chase.

Only because I’m aware that the third film is titled “Tokyo Drift”, the crew goes to Tokyo for some foreign heist and we are introduced to whoever this Sean guy is and Han. Han seems like he is more important and probably appeared in later movies since Jason Statham went after him during Furious 7 and he got his own funeral scene. He probably became pretty good BFF’s with Dom, but nowhere near the bromance he has with Brian. In Tokyo they deal with a healthy Johnny Tran and some of his pissed off relatives. Sean probably only ever returns in minor cameos since he has about 60 seconds of screen time in Furious 7. Same goes for Hector.

Vince and Harry get taken out in the second movie. Vince never fully recovers from the end of the first film, or he just wants out after almost dying. Harry is killed for minor drama and to make us hate some new antagonist. Their roles in the gang are replaced by Roman and Tej (who also replaces Jesse as the smart guy).

I was legitimately surprised to see Letty and Dom still together in Furious 7 but there is 100% no way that relationship has existed smoothly for 6 films. They are married either in the second or third film and Dom gives her the cross-necklace as an impromptu wedding ring. Probably in the fourth film, Letty is involved in a highly dramatic car crash and is assumed to be dead. Audience agrees. Han later inspects crash and finds the cross-necklace but no Letty, doesn't look very hard because the car is already engulfed in flames, or something, and he assumes shes burned to a crisp. They don't have a chance to gather the burned body because the car explodes. Dom is upset, refuses to take cross-necklace back because it makes him sad, so Han holds on to it.

In the fifth film this Giselle girl shows up and is a romantic interest for Dom. He starts to fall in love with her but she turns out to be a double agent who betrays him. However she does legitimately like Dom and feels bad about breaking his heart. She runs into some karma head-on and dies, but Dom doesn’t quite hate her. Thinking about her just makes him sad. However Letty shows up in the sixth film to save Dom from heartbreak and danger. We learn that she escaped her car crash but wandered off due to amnesia. She remembers nothing but is still drawn to Dom and Dom is in love again. She is still really good at driving cars.

Throughout the series, Brian gets into some serious trouble with his adrenaline junkie ways. He learns some martial arts while in Tokyo, because in 7 he has some serious moves that I don't think are taught in the police academy. His relationship with Mia is tested and almost broken when he refuses to give up the heist-life, but they hold fucking strong. Only the news that he’s gonna be a daddy can reel him in from self-destruction and save their relationship. He then quits the thug life, too.

In the sixth film, this Owen Shaw dude shows up and the feds need help to stop him. Hobb assists Dom and the gang again. Owen Shaw gets ahold of a tank (which is mentioned by Roman) and the gang battle the tank using their fast cars. Hobbs totally pwns the tank with a rocket launcher or something and Shaw gets caught in the flaming wreckage, crippling him and pissing off his brother Jason Statham. Statham goes to the hospital to see his brother and so begins Furious 7.
