If you haven't seen Shaolin Soccer (2001) and you like sports, comedy, and action. Please do. Tomatometer 91%, IMDB Rating 7.3.
Hello, first of all I'm a huge Stephen Chow fan, I've seen almost all of his movie (Fight back to School, God of Cookery, Flirting Scholar, The Sixty Million Dollar Man) to name a few. But I really recommend Shaolin Soccer to people, I consider it as one of his best movies of his career.
If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend that you do, especially if you like sport, comedy, action and drama. My take for this movie is I'm not a soccer/football fan, but I was entertained, there's a lot of funny scenes, plot is interesting, pacing of the movie is great, action scenes were great too, even if you don't like kung fu movies, I think you'll like this one.
If you are planning to watch it, I think the subbed version would be better compare to the dubbed one. As mention by LostRonin below, the dubbed one has 20+ mins missing. Runtime should be around 1hour and 52 mins.
So here is the plot: Shaolin Soccer, After a fateful mistake costing his career, an ex-soccer player bum meets a shaolin kung fu student trying to spread the word of kung fu. The ex-soccer player helps reconcile with his five brothers, and teaches them soccer, adding shaolin kung fu as a twist.
If you have seen it before or just saw it after this post let me know your thoughts about the movie.
PS: I'm about to watch it again for the 7th time and the thought of recommending it to redditors came up to me. So why not? right? Enjoy.
Edit: I just finished watching. Still 10/10.
