The ending of Tim Burton's 'Planet of the Apes' (2001) confused even its actors. Tim Roth said "I cannot explain that ending. I have seen it twice and I don't understand anything." Burton said that it was an intentional cliffhanger, not supposed to make any sense, to allow a sequel.
