With the success of Deadpool and Logan, I'm actually glad that the Marvel characters are split up between multiple studios.

A few years ago, I just wanted everything to be under one roof, Marvel Studios. They were knocking it out of the park with films like The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy. Sure Fox had their characters, but their only real strong suit was X-Men at the time.

Then Deadpool came out and destroyed box office records left and right due to it's radically different nature from other Marvel films. Violent and foul mouthed, it refreshed a somewhat tired genre. Hell people were STILL talking about it 11 months later, praising that it should get nominated for Best Original Screenplay.

Then Logan came out and did exactly what Deadpool did in terms of capitalizing on it's hard R rating without skimping on a powerful story. Logan is still going strong with $171M domestically 2 weeks into its release.

Wanting to have everything under one roof would be a terrible idea looking back at it. We would NEVER get a Deadpool or Logan under Marvel Studios. Don't get me wrong, the tone of the MCU is fitting, emphasizing big, fun, lighthearted adventures. It works great for them. Of course Fox has had their misfortune with the Fantastic Four and a couple X-Men films, but their overall direction is so distinct from the MCU that it makes both studios compliment each other.
