I hate the current trend of showing a title card or "preview" before a trailer.

So I just saw the thread featuring this trailer for The Hitman's Bodyguard, which itself I found enjoyable. I'll withhold any judgements until I see the movie but the trailer format itself annoyed me simply because a quote in the snippet/title card before the actual trailer was repeated. It's as if, beforehand I was shown a five-second preview for a trailer I was about to watch, even though I obviously clicked on a link to watch the trailer, and the title of the trailer was on top of the video before I played it. This isn't the first time I've seen this, although right now I can't cite any examples.

My best guess for the trend is social media, where people are likely to click "play" on something their friends or interests share than actually read it. I've obviously never seen this on screen in a cinema, and I'd be pretty annoyed if I did. Am I being too cynical? Is this just marketing's new way of constantly reminding us that we need to consume what they put out?
