The Prestige has the most rewatchability of any film i've ever seen.
Ive lost count of the amount of times ive watched this film, probably 6 or 7, but i still notice new things that i didnt before. Every time i watch it it gets better.
For example, the last two times i watched it i noticed two new things, the first was near the beggining of the film, where Borden (Bale's character) says ''We were just two young magicians starting our careers, two men who never meant to hurt anyone''. Of course when you first watch it, maybe even the first few times you watch it, you assume he is talking about himself and his co-magician/rival, Angier (Hugh Jackman).
But of course he isnt, he is talking about himself and his twin brother. This blew my mind on rewatching it.
The most recent thing i noticed was when Borden goes to the funeral of Angier's wife, and when asked which knot he tied, he asnwers ''Ive been asking myself that ever since, and i still dont know''. Him not knowing which knot he tied wasnt something i ever really understood, but when you think about the fact its two different people, one of whom tied the knot, one who didnt, and you picture them both sitting there, asking one another which knot was tied, it makes more sense, especially if the Borden who went to the funeral wasnt the twin who tied the knot.
I fucking love this film and could rewatch it every week for the next 10 years. Thanks for reading.
