What do y'all have to say about Hardcore Henry?

The movie which premiered first at Toronto Film Festival with great word of mouth. It won the Midnight Madness Award at the fest too. STX bought the distribution rights and quickly set up a release date. It was marketed with first ever first-person full feature length. The critical reaction has been sharply divided and movie also didn't do all that much when it was released wide in US and was quickly pulled off.

The director, Ilya Naishuller, had previously directed few of music videos for Biting Elbows in similar fashion. The videos are really well shot and very impressive.

Thought the movie had some inventive first-person camera work and Sharlto Copley was a blast in many of his avatars. Thoroughly enjoyed the rip-roaring action despite the thin script and little to non-existent story. The movie almost works like a live-action feature version of first person video games done worth extreme expertise. The stunt work is quite brilliant. Action is outrageously brutal and loads of fun. Have heard complaints of movie giving a huge headache and unbearable to watch given the uncoventional camera movements.

What do you have to say about the movie. With video game adaptations failing to rise the success bar even with big names, talents, studios and budgets involved, is there a space in the market for something as crazy as this to be feasible. Yes, movie wasn't that much success but it surely brought something new to the table. Something unique even if it didn't hit the home run. The effort felt committed and game-changing. But alas not be. In the age of superhero and safe playing studio PG-13 Blockbusters, is there a chance for something crazy like this to accepted. Do you think few movies could try the first-person approach. What say you, folks?
