How come most of the time in opening credits, there's one actor last on the list that also names their character?

You know how they're showing the names of actors in the beginning... It's like:

Brad Pitt....

George Clooney....

And Samuel L Jackson as Redbone

Why do they put the character name with the last actor in the credits?

(This is intentional nothingness because I'm tired of writing a post for movies and then it gets rejected because I didn't write enough bullshit down here)
