Roger Ebert wrote that "Dirty" Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood's police detective with the .44 Magnum) was so often in trouble with his own department—constantly transferred, demoted, reprimanded, etc.—that "it would take an hour in each of these movies to explain why he's not in jail".
