The Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, with new information from Spider-Man: Homecoming

Hey guys,

We learn at the beginning of Spider-Man: Homecoming that 8 years have passed between The Avengers and Spider-Man Homecoming.

Luckily, thanks to the Phase One S.H.I.E.L.D. files, we can pinpoint exactly when one of the film's take place.

Tony Stark's S.H.I.E.L.D. file says that he retires as C.E.O. in 2010. We also know from that file that his birthday is May 29th. This file also makes an appearance at the end of Iron Man II.

We also know that Iron Man II starting at Tony's birthday, Incredible Hulk, and Thor take place in the same week from May 29th, 2010 to June 4th, 2010.

The earliest that The Avengers can take place, and for it to make the most sense with Civil War and Homecoming, is July 2010 (since we witness Bruce Banner having a controlled transformation 31 days later at the end of The Incredible Hulk).

I think this lines up well, considering Steve Rogers states that he's 100 years old in Civil War, and his S.H.I.E.L.D. file tells us he was born 07/04/1918.

I'd say the timeline we're looking at is:

2009 - Iron Man

2010 - Iron Man II, Incredible Hulk, Thor, The Avengers

2013 - Iron Man 3 (newspaper marks date as December 23rd, 2013)

2014 - Thor: The Dark World, Guardians of the Galaxy (26 years later, after 1988), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

2015 - Captain America: The Winter Soldier

2016 - Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ant-Man

2017 - Doctor Strange

2018 - Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming

This is also consistent with Vision's comment that Civil War takes place 8 years since Tony Stark announced he was Iron Man, which would of been at the end of 2009 (since Iron Man's ending takes place 6 months before Iron Man II).
