In all seriousness, how does Christopher Nolan get away with not having an email or a phone, even when he was first starting out as a filmmaker?

No. I don't have an e-mail address.

If I were given a phone number, told it was yours and decided to call it—

Nothing would ring. I don't have one. [laughs]

I understand that any one of his assistants can take calls for him now, but he's claimed in the past that he's never had an email or a phone, even when he was starting out as a filmmaker.

How exactly is this possible? I don't imagine any filmmakers starting out today would be able to get away with not having any means of contact. Or am I overestimating the difficulty/inconvenience of doing that today?
