Don Jon is such a great look in to not only the effects of pornography, but relationship expectations in general *spoilers*

I've known about this movie ever since it released, but never had the opportunity to see it until today. I had thought it looked really good, but never had the chance to see it. And while it's not perfect, I thought it was fantastically done and a great directing debut for Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

I did think it was a little cheesy how he ended up with Julianne Moore's character, even though they didn't actually get married. I feel like they didn't build that "relationship" up enough. Basically he broke up with Scar Jo, had sex with Moore, and then soon after had this automatic connection with her, but even in spite of all that I feel like the movie did an excellent job on bringing expectations on both sides of the relationships in check.

Yes, the stereotype of all guys watching porn and getting these fantasies from it is something that's very well known, but I feel like it also handled the girl's perspective really well: Life isn't a fairytale. And love isn't "The guy drops everything he does and does what the lady wants because she wants it", it's an equal partnership between both people in the relationship. I just thought that the movie was incredibly well done, and I think it's one that everyone should see at least once.
