What is the worst ever proposed casting choice for a movie?

If they got the role it doesn't count but I'm looking for actors/actresses who were considered for a role but ultimately failed to get it. A while ago I read that when Steven Spielberg was going to direct the remake of Zorro he originally wanted Tom Cruise in the lead role. While I like Cruise's work he would have been a terrible choice to play a mexican. Plus Antonio Banderas was perfect for the role.

Another one read about was Kevin Costner for the Matrix. First off I'm surprised he was even offered the part of Neo seeing as how much his star power had declined by that point. But if he had gotten the role I imagine he would have been very bad in the role. I liked the guy in Dances with Wolves but I think he would have distracted from the "everyman" vibe that Neo was supposed to give in the beginning of the movie. Additionally I just have a really hard time imagining Kevin Costner do Kung Fu.
