Are the calls for a Wonder Woman Best Picture nomination serious?
I don't feel they're genuine.
I see media articles from time to time pushing this agenda + a Best Director for Patty Jenkins, but that's the thing..... its only media articles who are pushing this idea
It doesn't feel half as genuine as the push The Dark Knight got back in 2008. With an average score of 8.6/10 on rotten, TDK was regarded as a SERIOUS Best Picture contender... The academy had to change their slots from 5 to 10 because of The Dark Knight, and in the decade since its release it has been ranked as one of the best films of the 21st century by many critics.
WW got good reviews but the acclaim or buzz isn't anywhere near TDK level. When people said TDK should get a Best Picture nom, they were serious and it was backed up by all the acclaim. Inception which was released a few years after TDK got the Best Picture nom and its of the same quality as TDK.
A lot of people thought TDK should have WON best picture. People calling for WW to be nominated don't even believe it should win. This is the difference in quality
WW is a good film but it's not even the best superhero film of the year. Logan is
