My mother thought "Phantom Thread" was a Spy-Thriller and ended up disappointed. What has surprised you by people's different ideas before?

My mother was disappointed with the "Phantom Thread", as after gaining interest from the trailers on television, she believed it was a spy-thriller about a man sewing secret codes into the fabric of clothes & along with these he’d help save the world.

What have you been surprised by, by other people’s hugely different perspectives or ideas of a movie before?
