Am I crazy for thinking Beauty and the Beast (2017) was almost unwatchable?

My girlfriend and I have been watching a ton of Disney movies lately since I’ve fallen behind on seeing most of them. We recently watched UP, Coco, Cinderella (2015), and Toy Story 3, and I absolutely loved all of them.

Tonight we watched Beauty and the Beast as the last movie for our Pixar/Disney kick and I thought it was almost unwatchable. I must have been pausing every 15 minutes to see how much time was left.

I thought Emma Watson was terrible in the film and her singing was incredibly grating with the auto tune or whatever it was that didn’t match her expressions at all. She felt wooden and totally not into the role.

I felt the camera work was so weird, there was just something about the shots, moments of incredibly bad green screen, and lighting that really made me lose any sort of immersion.

The only real things I liked were Luke Evans, Josh Gad, the costume design (excluding the terrible yellow dress) and some of the set design.

I can’t really put a finger on the exact things that made me dislike it but I just couldn’t get into it at all. I don’t know if I had high expectations because of the string of high quality movies we just watched but I just couldn’t stand this one.

Am I crazy? Everywhere I look I only see tremendous praise and reviews. Do I have shit taste now? Oh god.
