Now that Guillermo del Toro has won Best Director, the Three Amigos have all won Best Director in the past 5 years!

Alfonso Cuaron, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and Guillermo del Toro are known as the Three Amigos. They are extremely close friends and are generally seen as Mexico's top 3 filmmakers. In the past 5 years, they have all won Best Director, with Cuaron winning for Gravity in 2013, Inarritu winning in 2014 for Birdman and in 2015 for The Revenant and del Toro winning for The Shape of Water.
