The Death of Stalin is excellent!

I had time to kill and a Moviepass and decided to give it a shot and was very happily surprised. There are some Monty Python-quality bits and silliness as well as some very dark humor, but it also feels like it was a few edits away from a well-acted political drama. The funny scenes were very funny and the intense scenes were very intense. I think I'm mostly impressed about how seamlessly it moved between the two.

I've missed funny Steve Buscemi for a while now and he totally delivers, but intense Steve shows up too. The guy who plays Beria (Simon R Beale) would probably be nominated for some awards if this wasn't a comedy (though hopefully he still is). I would absolutely love to see this type of historical comedy play out for other events in history.
