Anyone else think that moviemakers should stop releasing films in IMAX 3D and release them in IMAX 2D instead?
I don't really know how else to get this out there so that people will actually notice and do something about it. I know there are people who don't like 3D, not sure how big that community is though. Groups on Reddit have a way of making themselves appear bigger than they actually are by just being very loud and negative.
Case in point, Solo presold more tickets than Black Panther which surprised some people because of the shit some very vocal redditors gave it.
I recently went to see Infinity War but chose to see it in regular 2D instead of IMAX 3D simply because I find 3D in most films to be not worth the extra money, nor is it utilised effectively. Very few films have done 3D justice, Avatar and the Hobbit are examples, I heard Doctor Strange used 3D well and there's a few other films.
I just find IMAX 2D to be a much better experience and the 3D glasses are uncomfortable and I personally find 3D to be an eyestrain and occasionally get a headache from it.
I'm really glad that directors like Nolan film specifically in IMAX 2D, Dunkirk and The Dark Knight Rises were thoroughly enjoyable to watch for that reason and I just wish more filmmakers would do the same.
On a side note, is it worth me checking out Infinity War in IMAX 3D despite my quibbles?
