Has a movie ever outclassed everything in its genre so bad that has nearly ruined that genre for you?

I recently had just finished watching the chinese movie Hero (2002), a pretty much universally acclaimed masterpiece of an experiance. And now i'm fucking depressed.

Not because it was bad or the themes caused me to suffer sadness, but its the knowing no other film in the Wuxia genre is or will probably ever be as good as this movie is.

I even put on Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon which is a fucking amazing film, and now i cant stop finding flaws with it because of how nearly perfect Hero was.

Goddammit. Anyway, anyone else have a similar experiance where there was a movie that kind of cast an inescapable shadow over its contemporaries?
