I'm getting sick of random pictures and stills from unreleased movies

They don't really show much except for some random still from a scene or something. Like, great, yes, this movie exists/is being made. Can you tell me something about it? Trailers I can understand, they're supposed to give you an idea of what the movie is about (although it seems like we're getting less of that anymore), but these stills are just random pictures. Is it supposed to be hype? Or what? I'm sorry if this comes across as cynical/old man complaining, I know I could just go somewhere else, but I figure fair criticism should be stated.
