I'm Matthew Charles Santoro, director and VFX artist of the feature film Higher Power. AMA about indie sci-fi movie making.

Ask me anything Thursday on Reddit at 12pm PST.

I’m going through the process of dealing with my first movie (Higher Power) being released to the world. It’s a weird feeling… I want to talk about how weird. Also I want to talk about how I cobbled together an indie sci-fi, with less than $500K. From recklessly writing a script that required a blockbuster-sized budget, to somehow digging myself out of that situation by completing 99% of the visual effects myself. What it felt like being locked in a dark room with one computer and three graphics cards… For almost four years. And how it feels to be out. Along with all kinds of other stuff we want to talk about because… fuck it. No rules. Wait, are there rules? I don’t know how the collective consciousness that is Reddit works!? Maybe you guys can show me the deal and I can teach you some things about indie moviemaking. Not that I know a ton, but I did figure out some stuff along the way. Let’s do this. - MCS
