The independent Canadian film "Cube" and why i love it so much.

For those of you that haven't seen Cube ill try and avoid giving out spoilers in this post.

First i want to talk about the genius of Vincenzo Natali. This sci fi horror film took place entirely on a theatre stage, and costed $300 000 to make. I can count the endless amount of films that have been made with $500 000 or less and have turned out to be useless trash. Yet Vincenzo Natali was able to make a sci fi classic with $300 000.

I love the idea of this film. It cuts deep into the extremities of reality and makes you think quite deeply about society.

The idea is quite simple. A group of people are suddenly tossed into a futuristic looking cube without any idea of why they are there. Its one of the more thoughtful mysteries in film. How did they get there? Who designed the cube? What is the cube made for?

None of these questions are answered but the film flirts with some of the answers to those questions.

Obviously this film isn't produced well enough like an Academy Award film, but there is something attractive about this film not trying to be what it isn't.

Anytime a film can be produced with less than $500 000 yet become a classic, means the story is genius. And thats what is great about this film. The idea. The acting is okay, but the real magic of this film is the writing and story Vincenzo Natali has created here.

I don't wanna get into the specifics of it because i would like people to see this film without the details.

Did any of you enjoy the film as much as i did?
