What bad event in a movie that could have been prevented easily if the character made a simple, obviously smarter choice?

For instance: I was watching Along came Polly, in the scene that Reuben ran out of toilet paper. He floods the toilet/apartment by using a hand towel to wipe.

Smarter choice: He had the shower running, he could have simply washed his ass off in the shower instead.

BTW This is just for fun, nothing to be taken serious. It’s those “why would you do that moments”.
