The Lethal Weapon movies are incredible

Today a lot of people (myself included) complain about the clunky humor in action/superhero movies and re-watching these films it's incredible how flawlessly these movies are able to weave comedy into a set of films that are exceptionally serious and immersive when they need to be. The tone is a perfect example of how to execute action/comedy that does not lose its integrity by ruining scenes with humor when it doesn't need to, but is still laugh-out-loud funny.

The dialogue is very sharp and witty throughout. There's always new stuff you pick up on rewatches. The first movie is actually quite a serious cop flick, with a few moments of humor sprinkled in. The themes of suicide and aging and such are necessary for the bonding of the main characters. We go through the journey, and as each film continues (and more brilliant characters are introduced - like Joe Pesci) we feel like we're part of the family.
