Best examples of a later prequel leading on seamlessly to its earlier sequel?

I was blown away when I finally realised that the 2011 "The Thing" was a prequel to the 1982 film, the transition was amazing and I thought it was really clever.

"Rogue One" also did the same thing with it leading on to "A new Hope" seamlessly.

Are there any other examples of prequels made later than their sequels, and can be watched seamlessly back to back?
