Batman Begins is my favorite of the Nolan trilogy

The Dark Knight is a masterpiece of comic book films and The Dark Knight Rises is a flawed, but still good ending to the trilogy. That being said, I feel Batman Begins is kind of pushed aside to make room for those other two. It got good reviews and started the trend of gritty reboots, but when a film is followed by a phenomenon like The Dark Knight, said film is going to be overshadowed.

I watched Batman Begins last night and forgot how well-paced, well-acted, well-shot, well-written and just flat-out well-made that movie is. There are so many small moments where the acting is just phenomenal, my favorites being Commissioner Gordon comforting young Bruce after his parents were just shot and Bruce saving Ra's al Ghul after the League of Shadow's temple burns down. Not to mention every single time Alfred opens his mouth...

Upon my re-watch, I was afraid the summer blockbuster cliches would hold the film down, but I was wrong. The action set pieces are just as good as those small moments. Batman taking down Crane and his goons, the introduction of the Tumbler, the train sequence at the end, etc. So exciting set pieces to satisfy summer audiences.

All the films in this trilogy have everything I mentioned, but this one sets the template for everything that followed. It perfectly introduces us to Nolan's vision of these well-known characters and breaks ground for the genre simultaneously. That is why it is my favorite of the trilogy.
