Fight Club - missed the twist!

I watched Fight Club with my partner last night, he had never seen it before. I started furtively watching him out of the corner of my eye when I knew the twist was coming. Cue the big reveal and he didn't react at all! Then near the end, during the scene in the parking garage he asked me a question and I realised the whole thing had went over his head. I think I have to leave him now.....

EDIT: I shouldn't have to clarify that I am joking about leaving him but this is the internet.
