Does anyone feel like the hype for certain movies just comes and goes way too soon, well before the movie is even released?

I got this vibe first with Joker. I honestly was surprised when I learned it wasn't in theatres till October 4th. With all the talk about the movie, and all the reviews released a month in advance, it just feels like people can absorb all this media about the movie without being able to actually see the movie itself. Joker STILL isn't even out yet.

Now, with The Irishman, the same thing looks likes it's gonna happen again. A larger number of people will review/see it a month before it's available for consumption on Netflix. I believe the release date on Netflix is something like late November? It's already been reviewed, and well received, why not release it within the week!? All the hype for it is right now, and it will die down in the 2 months the average movie watcher has to wait to see it.

It's so confusing to me, but I'm sure the studios have their reasons. Does anyone else feel this way? Has this happened to any other movies you can think of?

TLDR: Movies are screened and reviewed way too early, killing all the hype weeks in advance of the movie's actual release.
