Finally got around to seeing "Bad Times at the El Royale." Why isn't this movie praised more?
The initial critical reviews kinda dissuaded me from seeing it in theaters. I finally gave it a watch over the weekend and I was pleasantly surprised. It had elements of a Tarantino movie, along with Coen Brothers with a splash of Wes Anderson. I felt like the pacing was great, the performances were amazing (particularly Chris Hemsworth and Jon Hamm), but I also felt satisfied with the ending.
I saw some critics saying the movie felt overlong or didn't answer enough of it's own questions, but I personally never felt bored or that I had anything unanswered. It is definitely one of my favorite movies from last year.
I enjoyed this more than the director/writer's prior film "Cabin in the Woods" and think it should be talked about just as much.
BTW, shout out to my surprise favorite character Miles
