Joe Pesci was the best casting in The Irishmen IMO
So I just watched Martin Scorsese's The Irishmen. And I believe Joe Pesci was the best casting choice to play Russel Bufalino. I had this image of Joe Pesci being a violently dangerous mafia guy who can be trusted to kill you for any reason he deems fit. Taking this image from Goodfellas and Casino.
So now we have him playing Russ. A calm well collected focused leader of the mafia. And I can't help but be afraid of him. Not because of anything he does in he movie particularly but because I infer what he must have done to get to the top of the food chain. Obviously I know that all 3 movies are not connected. I just think it's interesting to take a character actor like Pesci and use that image to create a backdrop for a completely different character in Russ
