About Time (2013) is a really sweet film.

I’ve seen posts about this movie on this sub before, but I just watched this movie and definitely recommend it. The main character is Tim, a lonely bachelor who is told by his father that all men in their family have the ability to time travel. (That’s not a spoiler- it’s revealed in the first five minutes.) Tim moves to London, where he meets a woman named Mary. The film chronicles their relationship and him coming to grips with his new ability. The film is bolstered by an awkwardly charming Domhnall Gleeson, and features particularly strong performances by Rachel McAdams as Mary and Bill Nighy as the father. (Nighy in particularly is the standout). I think the film does suffer a little at the beginning with making Tim a little too creepy seeming and let him get away with a few dodgy things. Otherwise, this film is funny and heartfelt; it starts funny towards the beginning and becomes more heartfelt towards the middle and end. What’s great is that this movie just feels like watching Tim and his loved one’s lives play out, just with a supernatural twist. Would watch again.
