George MacKay's performance in 1917. Absolutely haunting and powerful

I'm not sure why he wasn't in the conversation for Best Actor. Sure, his performance wasn't as showy or emotional as Jacquin Phoenix or Adam Driver, but he absolutely sells every scene in 1917. I genuinely felt what he's feeling throughout his journey during the entire film.

And he didn't, not even once, over act in any of his scenes. Ppl talked a lot about the technical aspects of the movies (and it's really amazing) but the movie wouldn't work for me, if the lead performance falls flat.
